James' academic interests include philosophy, history, and literature, though he has a very special love for science fiction and fantasy, specifically the work of the British High Fantasists and the Weird Fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, and William Hope Hodgson. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in history at
Utah Valley University, a Master’s Degree in philosophy from Loyola Marymount, and recently finished his Ph.D in philosophy at
Purdue University. He enjoys reading and writing, both philosophically and creatively, skiing, hiking, spending time with his wife and family, and playing chess.
